Here’s what a few Christian entertainers had to say about getting beyond church walls to meet the needs of your community for Jesus Christ:
If you excel at repairing cars, think about who really needs their car fixed. Some people who want their car fixed -- and may need to have it fixed -- have the money, the means, to get the repairs done. But there is a family not far from you that needs their car fixed but absolutely do not have the money to pay a mechanic. Rather than doing it for what you can get, give from the heart. No amount of money or other earthly reward can match the fulfilled feeling in the heart.

Think outside of the box! Community gardens that provide food to the poor, check in on the elderly in your neighborhood and volunteer to do odd jobs, or organize something as simple as a lemonade stand on a hot day to raise money for missions. They all plant seeds and bear great fruit in the Kingdom!

As a group, decide what you might be able to do better together; as opposed to operating as individuals. Consider that you might want to join with another church or join a community outreach project and get outside your normal church circle of friends.

One way that I've personally been able to be involved in serving the community is to simply help at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter. There is a great need for help in this area, no matter what city. It’s a great way to start building a good relationship with the people of the community, too.
