Here are five steps that will help you deal with transitions in your life and your church:

Step one: Pray and keep praying consistently . . . even when change isn’t happening! If you are praying in the still times, it’s easier to keep your focus on God when change tries to pull you into reacting to circumstances.

Step two: Don’t be afraid to talk to people who are directly connected to the transition, but refrain from gossip, backbiting or harboring a critical spirit. You might serve to better understand the reason for the process. And even if you don’t just choose people to talk to who will agree with you — really listen to the input of others.

Step three: Attitude check! Make a decision to focus on positive thoughts, words and actions. Instead of feeling like you are a victim, try to encourage around you who also may be affected by the change.

Step four: Evaluate the situation. See how it's going and if more change is necessary, then don’t allow fear to overwhelm you. Be open to a “bring it on” mindset.

Step five: Keep praying and stay in God’s Word. He will “help in good time for every need,” (Hebrews 4:16, AMP). Realize that you need Him all the time!
